September 19th 2008 by Taylor in A-Rod, Break Ups, Celebrities, Cynthia Rodriguez

The ugly divorce battle that painted Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez as a serial adulterer has quietly ended. A-Rod and his estranged wife Cynthia have settled their divorce, says the
New York Daily News. The settlement brings an end to the ex-couple’s five year marriage, as well as their months-long public fallout which saw various reports link the Yankees all-star to Madonna.
A terse statement released by the superstar ball player’s lawyer, Alan Kluger said:
“Cynthia and Alex Rodriguez have amicably resolved their dissolution of marriage proceedings. They deliberately engaged in a private negotiation. This was and remains a personal family matter for both of them.”
Take that as no details of the settlement were revealed. What we do know is, A-Rod was posturing that he was only willing to give Cynthia what was required in their prenup and threatened to make her pay his legal fees if she challenged the agreement and lost. Meanwhile in her divorce petition, Cynthia Rodriguez, 35, demanded the couple’s $12 million waterfront estate in Coral Gables, Fla., and “equitable distribution” of all assets acquired during the marriage. She also asked for alimony and child support from A-Rod, who made $28 million this season. She asked for life and health insurance and enough to pay for private schools so she and their two daughters can maintain the “high standard of living” they’re used to.
September 11th 2008 by Sasha in Break Ups, Celebrities, Sarah McLauchlan

During an interview with
Billboard.com for her upcoming album, Sarah McLachlan revealed that she's separating from her husband of 11 years Ashwin Sood:
"I wasn't planning on saying anything," McLachlan added, "but it's gonna come out at some point. I haven't said anything about it because I've been terrified to, but I figure ... there's no good time to say it, so I just said it."
McLachlan called the situation "pretty gross" but did not elaborate on reasons for the separation or the couple's future plans.
Ashwin is also the drummer in Sarah's band which is going to make things pretty awkward: "Hey, can you keep some sort of rhythm?" "Hey, I slept with your sister." Someone get me the number for TicketMaster.

Nicolette Sheridan, actress of “Desperate Housewives”, and singer Michael Bolton, have amicably called off their engagement.

Nicolette Sheridan and Michael Bolton have called off their engagement. The couple had been engaged since 2006.
In 2007, Sheridan spoke to Mail on Sunday’s YOU magazine expressing her marriage plans and desire for a baby.
“We haven’t decided where, and as soon as we make that decision it will happen very quickly,” Sheridan told the U.K.’s
Mail on Sunday’s
YOU magazine in December 2007.
She added, “I would like a baby,” though she was hesitant to say if they were trying.
Makes you wonder what went wrong?
A rep confirmed the engagement ending. “Nicollette Sheridan and Michael Bolton have amicably ended their engagement,” said Nicole Perna. “They appreciate your respect for their privacy in this matter.”
The couple’s originally began dating back in 1992, and dated for five years.
Nicolette, 44, and Michael, 55, started seeing one another again in 2005, and announced their engagement in 2006.
They made a nice-looking couple together, sad they are breaking off their engagement. Well, things happen! It’s smart to discover their problems now before enter into a marriage!

Michael Bolton and
Nicollette Sheridan have called it quits, and have broken off their engagement. The pair originally dated for five years starting in 1992. They got back together in 2005, and announced their engagement in 2006. Those long engagements usually end like this!
Nicolette’s rep told
People Magazine,
“Nicollette Sheridan and Michael Bolton have amicably ended their engagement. They appreciate your respect for their privacy in this matter.”
I wonder if Nicollette will listen to one of those Michael Bolton break-up songs, to help her get through this? Yeah probably not.
August 19th 2008 by Holly in Break Ups, Celebrities, Chris Kattan

Former Saturday Night Live actor Chris Kattan, 37, was dating his wife, model Sunshine Tutt, 31, for three years before they tied the knot two months ago. They were engaged for two out of those three years and seemed destined for a lifetime of happiness together - or at least a handful of years of wedding bliss. It may not happen for them, though, they’ve split up after just eight weeks together. Their rep confirms the news to US Weekly but says they’re not planning to divorce yet:
No joke: After just eight weeks of marriage, Saturday Night Live alum Chris Kattan and his wife, model Sunshine Tutt, have split.
“Separated for the moment. No plans for divorce at this time,” his rep tells Usmagazine.com.
Kattan, 37, and Tutt, 31 — who began dating in 2005 after meeting at a birthday party — tied the knot this past June 28 in Yosemite Valley, Calif.
He popped the question at Tutt’s grandmother’s home in Gainesville, Texas, on Christmas Eve 2006. He gift wrapped the ring in a present.

Have any of you known couples that were married and then broke up less than a few months later? I’ve only heard of this happening for celebrity couples, but surely there are plenty of laypeople who break up before the wedding gifts are even opened. Maybe reality sets in quickly for them and they just can’t handle it.
August 18th 2008 by Chelsea in Break Ups, Celebrities, Phil Collins

Phil Collins and Orianne Cevey, during happier times.
Phil Collins, 57, has been forced to pay his third wife about $50 million for his divorce. It was the largest divorce payment by a British celebrity in show biz.
Phil Collins was getting divorced from Orianne Cevey, 35, after 7 years of marriage. They have 2 children; Nicolas, 8, and Matthew, 4. Collins paid more than Paul McCartney. McCartney paid his ex-wife, Heather Mills, $48.6 million.
Orianne Cevey would be staying in Geneva, Switzerland, and work at her luxury jewelry business, The Right Label. Coliins will move out and stay nearby to be close to his sons, Nicolas and Matthew.
Collins will divide his time between Switzerland, New York and Norfolk, UK. His agent, Tony Smith, had refused to comment on Collins’ divorce, saying that it was an old story.

August 14th 2008 by Holly in Break Ups, Celebrities, Jennifer Aniston, John Mayer

A lot of people assumed that John Mayer “dumped” Jennifer Aniston, not the other way around, probably because she’s always portrayed as such a sad sack and a hanger-on by the media. A journalist at the
Chicago Sun Times claims to have a very solid source who says that it was Aniston who did the dumping, not Mayer, and that she just got fed up with his cheating. Mayer was photographed in a hot tub in Mexico last week with a woman who wasn’t Aniston at a time when the actress was back in LA. The woman turned out to be a wife of one of his band members and not a fling, but the damage to his already playboy image was done. What’s more is that Mayer is said to have cheated on Aniston with three different women: a groupie, a promoter’s assistant, and a cocktail waitress, not necessarily in that order or at the same time.
Much is being made about John Mayer allegedly dumping Jennifer Aniston, but one of my best Hollywood sources — super-close to both Aniston and her best pals Courtney Cox and David Arquette — insists it was the ex-”Friends” star who gave Mayer his walking papers.
It was “Jen who decided to move on,” says the friend. “She is very fond of John and has thought he might be the one. She finds him funny, sexy and very talented. … Plus he understands all the aspects of living in a fishbowl. But in the final analysis, she just got tired of his roving eye.”
A vivid example can be seen in the new Us Weekly (hitting newsstands this week), which has photos of the singer frolicking in a hot tub in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on a trip without Aniston.
Apparently, Aniston gave Mayer a “three strikes and you’re out” ultimatum — after learning about his “quickie” flings with a cocktail waitress and a promoter’s assistant for his concert tour.
That was two strikes. Another dalliance, with a groupie, was the final straw for Aniston.
A longtime major Hollywood studio exec — and good Aniston buddy — adds this: “Above everything else, Jennifer is looking for stability and loyalty in a relationship. She still is hurting from losing Brad [Pitt] to Angelina [Jolie] — even after all this time.”
[From The
Chicago Sun Times]
If all this is true, I can’t believe Jen gave him first one chance, then another one after she realized he was sleeping around on her. Maybe she wanted to keep it casual but in that case she should have let him go on tour alone and kept her distance. Hindsight is 20/20 though, and who knows what their relationship was like. I’m not judging her, more like giving a girl unsolicited dating advice that she probably could have learned from that movie she’s producing and starring in, “He’s just not that into you.”
This is the guy who bragged that his penis had a great batting average, so it’s not like he’s the faithful type.
Meanwhile Aniston is finding love - or at least temporary lust - in the arms of a guy who seems like he might be a smidgen more commitment-minded than Mayer. She’s said to be dating Selma Blair’s on-off ex, a model named Matt Felker. Go Jen!

It looks like
The Mirror broke this story accurately earlier today. Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer are split, “multiple sources,” confirm to
People Magazine. They typically don’t run rumors, so we can probably count this one as true:
Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer have called it quits, multiple sources confirm to PEOPLE.
“They had a great time together but they are just in different places in their lives right now,” says a source of Aniston, 39, and Mayer, 30, who kicked off their courtship in April.
A friend of Mayer adds that a reconciliation isn’t necessarily out of the question: “He never ends things with a clean slate. He likes to dwell on these relationships and sort everything out before saying goodbye for good.”
The split was first reported Wednesday by the U.K.’s Mirror, which said the couple split earlier this week, after initially deciding to spend some time apart.
Reps for Aniston and Mayer have declined to comment.
[From
People]
That’s what you get when you cry wolf,
Mirror, people don’t believe you at first if you’ve run fake stories in the past.
Meanwhile
US Weekly says they’re just taking a break or “cooling off” or whatever. I’ve heard that before and it usually means the relationship is doomed:
“It is really a cooling-off, not this big, dramatic breakup,” a mutual pal tells Us Weekly in its latest issue, on newsstands now.
“These are mature people who talk about things maturely,” the pal says. “It’s just slowed down.”
And though Us confirmed that Mayer’s Cabo hot-tub companion was merely a friend (the wife of a bandmate), a source tells Us that Aniston planned to go but “cancelled at the last minute,” opting to stay in L.A.
Since the 39-year-old actress and 30-year-old singer went public with their romance in April, she opened up to him about her desire for a baby, the pal tells Us.
“Who’s to say where it will end up, but now he has a lot going on,” the pal says.
Another source counters: “If she said she wants kids and he’s not ready, that’s not being needy. It’s being honest.”
[From
US Weekly]
It looks like Aniston’s dog was right.
Damn you, Aniston and Mayer, for making me invest in your relationship and actually feel let down that you’re breaking up. Don’t try and go back to each other and make it work, though. I’ve wasted a lot of years doing that and it’s just like picking at a wound. You’ll each find someone more suited to you and be a lot happier in the long run if you move on.
People didn’t expect these two to work, and that’s why I was hoping they would. Aniston is gorgeous and Mayer is well - rich and talented, and they’ll find other partners. We’re sure to hear about it too. Can you imagine if you and your ex were both famous? You could keep track of them for years without relying on whatever you can find out online. That would have it’s drawbacks too of course. In fact it would probably suck. Better to find out through Facebook after you’ve had a few cocktails than to have it staring at you from every grocery, drug and convenience store.
August 12th 2008 by Taylor in Adrian Grenier, Break Ups, Celebrities, Isabel Lucas

Amazing how the dots connect sometimes. Transformers 2 star
Isabel Lucas, and
Adrian Grenier have split up. The pair broke up about three weeks ago, right after the accident that left
Shia LaBeouf with a crushed hand. Lucas had been dating Entourage star Grenier, for several months. Isabel was in the car with co-star Shia LaBeouf when the crash occurred in the early morning hours, which raised a few eyebrows.
Apparently Adrian was thinking along the same lines as the rest of us with jaded vision. An inside source tells
People Magazine:
“Adrian saw her with Shia and that was kind of it – the crash, their hanging out. He obviously didn’t appreciate it.”
Lucas’s rep confirmed that the actress “is single.”
